Cruising The Chesapeake Bay
SBYC Club Cruises

It's far too seldom that we stop to realize how lucky we are as boaters to have the Chesapeake Bay in our back yards. Nowhere else will you find such a diversity of destinations within easy reach by boat. Indeed, the mid bay is home to more historic towns, quaint fishing villages, big cities, and quiet coves than one can imagine.

And nothing represents the boating lifestyle more than being on the water with close friends. Several times each year, Selby Bay Yacht Club sets sail for a different Chesapeake Bay destination, where we Chesapeake Bay Bridge at sunrise from Western Shore near Annapolis, Marylandgather together and enjoy a wonderful weekend full of exceptional food, fabulous cheer and the great company of friends both old and new. SBYC organizes a club cruise once each month during the summer. With typically 12 to 20 boats joining in, we leave our docks on Friday as each member's schedule allows, and meet up at the destination for dockside cocktails and bring-a-dish hors d'oeuvres Friday evening. After bagels and coffee on Saturday morning, we spend a leisurely day exploring local venues, or just lounging by a pool. Saturday evening often brings a group dinner at a local restaurant, followed by impromptu gatherings on the docks before retiring for the night. Sunday morning "pot luck" brunch gets us on our way back home with a good meal in our bellies.

All members are encouraged to participate in club cruises, and destinations are chosen to accommodate the needs of both power boaters and sailors. Recent destinations include Fairlee Creek, Cambridge, St. Michael's, Baltimore, Oxford, Solomon's Island and Chestertown.
